Through my airplane window I can see the dimming lights of Colon City

                 G#m                          A                 B

Silently welcoming me to the only home I know.

E                     A              B                         A                      E

Up a head I see a ship await, at the waterway’s Atlantic gate

                       G#m                                    A                       B

Gatun locks it brights up the sky with a soft fluorescent glow

The buoy lights they curve around BCI

Gamboa town passes me by

Under the railroad bridge the mighty Chagres flow

The Thatcher Ferry Bridge is a steely strand

I see the line of lights that joins the land

How I love you so

Petal to the metal I’m a shifting gears, My windshield view is oh so clear

The Pan-American Highway Yes I’m heading for the beach

I slow my car way down to pay the toll like I’ve done a thousand times before

Chorrera busses and cholo cars they make my boiling point to reach

On Compana hill I must break and swerve, I see crosses for souls that missed the curve

Sajalices and Chame to now Gorgona yes I’m getting near

Road side vendors sell blue crabs and cashew nuts mangrove poles and pipa fria coconuts

I see my turn off and I crack a smile because I know my hammock’s waiting there

I wouldn’t change this seat for any other in the world

Cuz nothing fills my heart with joy like the beauty I behold
