Out on the Ocean                David Seitz  May 2006

Alex plays the chords below but as usual, plays them with open e and b strings (when playing the A and the B on the 5th and 7th fret respectively.)  My guitar is tuned from lowest to highest: E, A, E(tune up), E (tune down), B, E.    Have fun figuring it out – most of it is on the highest 2 strings.  Most of the jam and the intro is on the 4th string.  (FYI, this is the same tuning as CSNY Suite Judy Blue Eyes only they drop the whole thing to a D.)

A                     E   A                     E     A                         E    A

Out on the ocean there’s a place I go when the wind is falling and

       B        E

the tide is low

Out on the open I can give my mind a rest.

It’s the sight of the Islands that I like the best.

You can see me run for miles and miles with my burdens falling in my wake.

With my back to the sun at the end of the run knowing what’s at stake, Hoping for a lucky break.

Then the wait for darkness, the wind and seas die down

A calmness creeps around me,  A million stars all around.

            A                          E                                A

And I dreamed I saw an old tall ship, sails were taught against the

E

breeze

 A                                      E                                     B

She was making time to a sailor’s rhyme.  Take me with you please.

A    E   B  E         A  E  B  A

A                        E

Thunder in the distance

A                         E

Yellow moon is bright

A                           E

You can hear the rhythm

              B

Hear it play all night.

A                     E   A                     E     A                         E    A

Out on the ocean there’s a place I go when the wind is falling and

       B        E

the tide is low
