Winken and Blinken and Nod one night took me sailing in a wooden boat

I was hoping that that thing stay float   I was praying that that boat stay float.

That was not so long ago.  That was not so long ago

I looked out on a carpet that went for miles and miles and miles

The biggest carpet I had ever seen

And in there were things living and growing, lots of red and blue and leaves of green and all the colors in between

Like a never ending tapestry

And I saw holes appearing and growing larger by the minute

I hope that someone sews them up before the whole thing comes undone.

Drove on the muddiest red clay roads that just went no where

Saw rows and rows and rows of trees.  Weren’t planted, they just grow there.

Weren’t planted they just grow there.

That was not so long ago   That was not so long ago

I saw myself the morning I woke up alone on the beach in Santa Clara

The sky was dark the sea was darker Lightning flashed across the horizon

That was not so long ago.  That was not so long ago

I looked down from the top of Baru and saw both oceans shining through.

I see how to get to all the places I used to go.

I know what there is to find there. At least that’s what I hope to find when I go back someday.

Then I saw myself swimming in a river somewhere in the middle of the jungle  the sun was hot upon my back, felt so good upon my back

That was not so long ago.  That was not so long ago

A sudden flash of a vague memory of the sun through the trees or was it a dream

Now the sunlight comes through my eyes and wakes me, I hear nothing but a horn in the distance.  Nothing but a horn in the distance.
